Packalope's Cheesy News Update

Dear Friends and Fans,

What a great season and its not even over yet. The Pack plays another great game and beats Mike Holmgrens Seahawks in front of a sellout house at Lambeau. In my 30 years outside of the Snow Bowl in the mid 80's have I ever seen it snow this hard.It was awesome.. The flakes were light a fluffy and big as silver dollars...The Pack got behind by 14 points and then kicked it in gear to beat the Seahawks 42-20.

It was another great tailgate party. Cindy-Lope put on another great spread. polish sausage and kraut, ham and swiss sandwihces on a cheese and spinach bun, weinnys in BBQ sauce and another assortment of different food items topped the list.

I am so proud of theis football team. I never thought they would do this well this year...I just thought with the young team it would take a few years.. But my God they have jelled and with the emerging running game with Ryan Grant and the incredible arm of Brett Favre it looks like we are on our way to the big dance.

I appreciate all the friends and fans that come by my tailgates at Lambeau..Its always great to see everyone....

GO Pack GO!!!!All the way to the Super Bowl.

Trip to Kiln, MS ( Bretts Hometown):

I just got back from a trip to Kiln,MS with my friend Pete Damico ( President of the Door County Gulf Coast Relief Fund.)

What a great trip it was. Left on Thursday and drove straight through the night and arrived in MS 9:30 the next morning and stopped at Bretts College ( Southern Miss) to hit the souvenir shop on campase.

Arrived in Kiln, MS at our friend Stevie and Mabel Haas who own the famous Broke Spoke bar.

We attended a Friday night high school football game between Bretts alma matter Hancock High and the Stanislaus Rock-a- Shaws.

Jeff Favres son ( Bretts nephew) Dylan is QB for the Rock-a - Shaws. Including that game he has over 800+ yards passing, 13TD's and ! INT. He resembles Brett in his passing skills and has that strong Favre arm.Stopped in at the Spoke after for my first visit to this famous bar. People were very friendly and had a good time.

Finally went to bed that night after being up over 40+ hours. Got up the next day Mabel and Stevie were having a birthday party for a friend.

Took part in the festivities. Got up the next day and went to the Spoke to see how Stevie was doing making his incredible spagetti sauce for Packer vs. Giants football game.

Dressed up in my Packer garb helmit included and went to the Spoke for the game. Signed autographs and took and bunch of photos with various peple from all over the country.

After the Packer victory we went on a pontoon ride in the bayou to Bonita Favres house for another birthday party for one of her friends Mel.15 plus of us piled on the boat for a nice relaxing boat ride. Arrived at the Favre residense to the smiling face of Jeff Favre.

Met Bonita and was invited into the Favre home and got to see Bonitas trophy room with Bretts trophys and awards. Was just incredible.Seen where Brett grew up and the field where Brett started throwing those tight spirals.

Said our good byes and headed out to see if we could get an alligator for the Packalope to hold. With Stevie driving we accidentally hit a stump and damaged the lower unit of his boat motor.

We either had wide open or nothing. So in order to get a gator you have to sneak up on tham with a light. Jump in grab them and bring them on board. We luckily for me this event didnt take place due to the damaged motor.

We instead went to a seafood bar called "Steamers" where they steam all thier food, nothing is deep fried. Had my first dozen raw oysters. they were very good. We say to some songs with the guy at the piano bar and headed back to where we launched the boat. What a fun day it was.

Got up the next day it was Monday Night Football at the Spoke and Stevie was making white beans and rice for the game.Pete and I went out to some homes scouting for potential jobs for his crew when they come back in October for a week. I was very humbled by this experience. People were just devistated by the loss of thier homes, possessions and jobs. It was far worse then I could have imagined.

Spent the whole day out scouting and watched MNF in the Spoke, great food great people.

Tuesday got up did some more scouting and decided to go to New Orleans and Bourbon Street and the French quarter. Hit Bubba Gumps Shrimp Co., Jimmy Buffetts Margerittaville, House of Blues etc. Just so much fun,. Finished the evening off with a cup of coffee at the famous Cafe Du Mone.

Ordered our 350 lbs of shrimp for the trip back and 100 lbs of oysters.Picked those up Wednesday morning for the trip back home to Wisconsin.

Pete was an exceptional host and knows the area like the back of his hand.I appreciated him showing me the area dn taking me on this increible trip.It was a experienece I will never forget. Thanks Pete you are a true firned.I will add more to this adventure as time goes.

Life has been going great for the Packalope. I am now engaged to Cindy-Lope. We were dating for over a year when I decided she was the right one for me to spend the rest of my life with.

Last year she made her debut at pretty much all the Packer games and made it through very well. The funnest game for her was when our friends from down south Mabel and Stevie Haas who own the Broke Spoke in Bretts hometown of Kiln MS came to town and put on a shrimp boil. Was a great time and Cindy met my friends from down south. If you see her at the games with me please stop by and say Hi to her.
